Terra: Wood Burning Italian Grill sprawls the indoor/outdoor space on top floor of the newly opened Eataly in San Jose’s Valley Fair Shopping Center. It’s a definite contrast to La Pizza & La Pasta which is only steps away, on the same floor. Green foliage adorns the walls and ceiling throughout, bringing an earthy and vibrant feel which compliments the beverages and cuisine nicely. Telescoping glass doors separate the veranda from the umbrella-clad patio, offering fresh air from the bar area past the kitchen, creating an elongated flow. On to the food offerings; we’re not sure you can go wrong with any of the options, but here are a few highlights from our lunch:
Primo Amore Spritz
Aperol, Braulio, Vermouth Rosso, Prosecco, Rosemary
Gold Rush
Bourbon, Honey Syrup, Lemon Juice
Fiori Di Zucca Ripieni
Ricotta-Filled Squash Blossoms, Agriform Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, Basil
Croston Con Stracciatella
Calabro Stracciatella, Confit Cherry Tomatoes, Basil, Grilled Housemade Sourdough Bread
Arrosticini d’agnello
Grilled Abruzzo-Style Lamb Skewers, Toasted Housemade Sourdough Bread
Tagliatelle al Ragù di terra
Housemade 40-Egg Yolk Tagliatelle, Coal-Fired Beef & Pork Ragù, Agriform Parmigiano Reggiano®
Please note that they have the most delicious-looking gelato cart, and we did not partake in dessert but it was very tempting and we highly recommend giving it a try.
If we were choose one highlight from the menu, it would be the Grilled Lamb Skewers. We are more than positive a trip to their bar for a cocktail and those alone is in our near future.
