College of San Mateo Farmers’ Market

CSM Farmers' Market

Saturday mornings at the College of San Mateo (CSM) Farmers’ Market are a true treat, one that we often take advantage of. Douglas Mena, Market Manager with the Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association, keeps this market of carefully curated vendors running year-round. Beginning at 9am and ending at 1pm, local farmers and vendors from Northern California and the Central Valley offer up the freshest of fresh– all varieties of fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, baked goods, plants, artisan treats and even pre-cooked meals.

A few of our favorites…

Salsa from Swank Farms
Half-flat of strawberries from Rodriguez Farms
Sliced sourdough from Beckmann’s
Cinnamon rolls from Bernal Bakery
Cookie dough from Drops of Dough
Empanadas from El Porteño
Mushrooms from Far West Fungi
Pre-ordered farm boxes from Fifth Crow Farm
Lettuce from Fly Girl Farm
Corn from G&S Farms
Beans & Brussels from Iacopi Farms
Gluten free granola from Nana Joes
Whole roasted chicken and potatoes from Roli Roti

A few tips and tricks we’ve learned over the years– Bring a wagon or some sort of cart along with you if you plan to buy more than just a couple things. Bags get heavy really quickly, or you will find yourself making lots of trips back and forth to your car. Pack a cooler with ice so you can keep perishables cold in your car. Bring a bit of cash with you; many vendors accept credit cards, but there are a handful that are cash-only. If you forget your cash, you’re able to purchase vouchers at the PCFMA tent, they accept credit cards and can use those vouchers like cash. The early bird gets the worm and it’s really worth it to arrive a bit before 9am, and you will likely avoid longer lines at popular vendors.

We hope to see you on a Saturday at CSM, and please tag us in your photos– we’d love to see what you’re picking up and cooking!
