Review of Reining by the Bay @ The Horse Park at Woodside!
Hello Everybody,
My girlfriend’s little sister competes in horse shows and usually the horse shows are out of the area/state making it unable for me to attend. However on this past Friday (July 25th 2008) she had a local competition called “Reining by the Bay” in Woodside, CA. The venue; The Horse Park at Woodside (which is actually located in Menlo Park off of Sand Hill Road) was beautiful with green lawns, large arenas, and expansive views of the entire Bay Area.
Sara (my girlfriend’s little sister) competes in non-pro western reining. Reining is when the rider uses leg and rein ques to move the horse in a series of circles, spins, and stop patterns. Rider and horse are judged on how effectively and gracefully the horse can perform those maneuvers.
Sara did very well, winning first place in the Limited Non-Pro Derby! Congrats Sara!
This is a great spectators sport and I encourage you to join in for Reining by the Bay next year and show each reiner support by cheering them on.
