Windy City is awesomew for deep dish. Amicis downton San mateo is the best thin crust. “Go team tap”
I must admit I am a Windy City Fan too!! Thats who took my vote. I also like Mr. Pizza Man but only their South San Francisco location. I love the by-the-slice drive through.
My pizza of choice is BBQ Chicken at either of my top too!
Love the garlic pizza at Zorba’s… But since I love pizza must try the Windy City….
Ok, So my favorite is Little Cesear’s Pizza. I go to the one on 3rd Avenue in San Mateo. I am not an avid fan of pizza in general. But I like the value that Little Cesear’s offers. I mean, can you really beat $5 for a large pizza?
I am also a wee bit biased because my oldest son works at Little Cesear’s part-time while in college. Stop by the San Mateo location and say “Hi” to Miguel and tell him his mom sent ya!
That was a toughy. I went with Round Table since I love their all meat pizza. I thought they were getting a little light on the toppings but the last couple I had were much better.
Hard choice! I went with Mr. Pizza Man (but I’m with Brendan, Only SSF). I have lots of fond memories going through the drive-thru in the wee hours of the night/morning to grab a slice

Speederia in San Carlos is the best and I did not see it on the list.
North Beach is not bad either.
Hey Eli,
Thanks for the comment and recommendation! I just added Speederia to the list! Both to vote on and for me to try!

Hey Dave,Brendan and team,
I was forced to choose Toto’s per Maria Rhodes. I must admit, I only eat pizza in San Francisco at Roma’s Pizzeria. I will try Brendan’s recommendation .Drive through sounds good to me because I am always on the run. Run, Run,Run…….
Lupe
Hi Brendan and Dave…
Of course, you know Toto’s is “OFF THE HOOK!!!!” and YES, I did force Lupe to choose Toto’s…….Since I grew up eating Toto’s when they were located in the Mission……Sausage, Mushroom and Garlic…yummmmm I’m hungry!!!!
Okay, Management of Pizza Companies…
I can see each one of you is cheating/manipulating the results by voting from the same internet connection repeatedly. I can see the IP Addresses! If you seriously have a designated computer setup at your restaurant that visitors can use that is okay. But I would have to come by and verify. Give me a call if this is the case.
If not, votes from the same IP addresses WILL NOT BE COUNTED!

Totos is legit foos. Try a Special #2. Straight BAM.
Love, peace + pizza grease.

I dont think that its fair to say that one of the companies is cheating or manipulating the results. If you clearly put the rules of voting up before hand, than yes I would say that you could post a comment like that. But you didn’t do that until votes were alredy calculated. I also dont think its fair to blame it on the managers because they are not the only ones voting. Maybe someone really likes the pizza and heard about the voting from a friend. One should never make assumptions about what they don’t know!!! It’s the internet who knows whos voting!!
Hi “Anonymous”,
First off, I was wrong to blame management without proof. However, I can trace the IP address up to a few addresses away. It so happens that one of the addresses is one of the pizza place’s in question and it’s also interesting how you (the person commenting) is coming from that same IP address.
I also did a little detective work and searched for the email address provided from your comment and found a name. I then called corporate and that person/you are listed as an employee.
Secondly, the rules were explained first hand in the body of this post. “Please only vote once!” I had everyone on the honor system because I didn’t think cheating would be an issue. I now have cookies and IPs blocked from same parties for a given amount of time.
Furthermore, I don’t mind employees voting. But as rules say, vote once not 300+ times.
Lastly, If you wanted your story to add up you should of covered your tracks more and also made it a little less obvious. Considering there was about 1 comment per every 20 votes before. Don’t you think if someone who loved the company in question’s pizza so much they would have left a comment about why they loved it so much. I mean that person/you voted for the place 300+ times over several hours, why not post why they like the pizza so much.
By the way, we were all just having fun. All though I went Sherlock Holmes on you, it doesn’t mean I’m mad. Thank you for stopping by and having so much pride in your company. But please, respect the integrity of this competition.
Ok guys, I’ll bite. I keep seeing your updates on FB. I am now the only person that likes Mountain Mikes… and am I the only person that does Papa Murphy’s for take n bake?
It’s hard to pick just one but I got to go with the original crust pepperoni pizza from Round Table. Can’t go wrong with this pizza and even tastes great the next day when it’s cold. I think I’ll order one right now!
Hey Everyone,
Thank you so much for voting but the results are in! The winner is… Toto’s Pizzeria! I will be contacting their management in the coming days to present the 2009 Team Tapper Best Pizza of The Peninsula Plaque!
Thank you to all the voters and runners up!

I am one of the owners of Windy City Pizza. We were unaware of this contest – I just stumbled on this today (Nov 1) – a little late. Sorry I didn’t know about it. Anyway, I’m thrilled to see we came in 2nd!
Can you please let me know if you’re planning on doing this again?
Many thanks.
Trish
Hi Trish,
I will send you an email regarding your comment. Management was notified in the form of a traditional letter, and yes there will be a best pizza competition again next year and other voting style posts coming soon!
-Brendan
really wonderful this is an amazing list and i appreciate it.
There are so many good pizza recipes out there. I have never tried Toto’s. Next time I go out for pizza I will give them a try.
